In 1993, the Rogers Park Home Repair Program was established to assist senior and disabled residents with home repairs and modifications. The program still exists today under the banner of Small Accessibile Repairs for Seniors (SARFS)—a program supported by the City of Chicago Department of Housing (CDOH).Through SARFS, NCR carries out small accessibility repair work in partnership with licensed and bonded contractors.
Over half of seniors take serious falls in their homes, but many of those falls can be avoided through preventive measures taken through the SARFS program. Residents 60+ years of age who live in single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums or even apartments may be eligible for this program.
To speak with NCR’s SARFS staff manager, please email seniors@northsidecr.org or call (773) 338-7722 (ext. 21).
SARFS is a City of Chicago program, and NCR is one of eight “Delegate Agencies” that carry out the work in partnership with Licensed and bonded contractors. Specific eligibility requirements apply with regard to income, personal assets, ownership and property configuration. Please visit the City of Chicago SARFS website for more information. SARFS is a first-come, first-serve program. At any time, the program waitlist may close due to capacity.
