Small Accessible Repairs for Seniors (SARFS)

In 1993, the Rogers Park Home Repair Program was established to assist senior and disabled residents with home repairs and modifications. The program still exists today under the banner of Small Accessibile Repairs for Seniors (SARFS)—a program supported by the City of Chicago Department of Housing (CDOH).Through SARFS, NCR carries out small accessibility repair work in partnership with licensed and bonded contractors.

NCR is dedicated to enabling seniors to live independently and remain in their communities by providing essential safety and accessibility modifications in seniors’ homes at no cost to them.

Over half of seniors take serious falls in their homes, but many of those falls can be avoided through preventive measures taken through the SARFS program. Residents 60+ years of age who live in single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums or even apartments may be eligible for this program.

SARFS is a City of Chicago program, and NCR is one of eight “Delegate Agencies” that carry out the work in partnership with Licensed and bonded contractors. Specific eligibility requirements apply with regard to income, personal assets, ownership and property configuration. Please visit the City of Chicago SARFS website for more information. SARFS is a first-come, first-serve program. At any time, the program waitlist may close due to capacity.
